The College Bound Program (https://tinyurl.com/bcsj2018) at Boston College is seeking to hire a science teacher to join the teaching staff starting in September of 2019. The successful candidate will co-teach with a theatre teacher in the science-theatre class section, where 7-9th grade youth will collectively write and produce performing arts pieces around social and environmental justice topics that are personally relevant to them. As a part of this process, students will be involved in (1) investigating and learning about social and environmental justice issues; (2) engaging in coding and engineering to create props, stage set, lighting and sound; and (3) developing performances that highlight stories that are important to them around a social and/or environmental justice topic of their choosing.
The ideal candidate has teaching experience in urban middle school settings and is excited to co-plan with a teacher outside of their discipline in order to bring together science and theatre practices in a cohesive manner. In addition to planning and teaching with a theatre teacher, the successful candidate will be expected to work with project staff to ensure successful program implementation.
The position is funded by a series of National Science Foundation (NSF) grants that includes a collaboration with theatre directors, playwrights, scientists, and educators in science and theatre.
College Bound consists of approximately 18 Saturdays (8:30am-12pm) during the academic year and a 3-week summer program that takes place in July. The current rate of pay is $150/day for the Saturdays during the academic year and $200/day during the summer. To learn more about the Converge Science Theatre Project, please visit:

Looking for science teacher for one afternoon a week, teaching a 3rd-4th class and a 5th-6th
class, in a nature-based independent elementary school in Royalston Massachusetts. Prefer an individual with science teacher experience, science background and teacher training. Curriculum is already developed by the school, and the right person will be mentored by the long-time science teacher. It requires a fair amount of prep. Be ready to take students out in the field regularly! No textbooks, it's all hands on, labs and observation.
For the right person, this is a great opportunity to enter the science teaching field, or to renew science teaching after an absence.
