Student science competition 2021

7 Mar 2021 8:31 PM | Keith Wright (Administrator)

I was hoping you might be able to help us publicize a competition we run each year to try to encourage interest in students throughout the Commonwealth in biomedical research.

Now in its 29th year, the MSMR Student Competition encourages students to create a website, poster or essay describing a recent biomedical research breakthrough. The entries are judged blindly by a group of biomedical professionals, with cash prizes and certificates of recognition awarded to the winners. We also award classroom grants to the teachers of the winning students.

We were hoping you could spread the news about the competition to science teachers throughout Massachusetts so that they may encourage their students to enter the competition this year. As I know you are well aware, learning circumstances are anything but normal at the moment, but we are hoping that the competition might actually be able to help in classrooms by offering an additional learning opportunity that students can work on remotely, if need be.

The competition rules and procedures can all be found on our website: https://msmr.org/event/annual-msmr-student-competition/

We’re able to accept entries up through April 30, so hopefully that will provide enough time for any interested students to be able to enter.

I’m very happy to answer any questions you may have on the process or any other element of the competition.
